“When we insist on seeking an intellectual understanding to a problem rather than listening to the body’s intelligence, we experience creative aridity or a complete block of the creative process.”
Peggy Tabor Millin
The body is the receptor of sensory experience as well as the storehouse for memories. In this two-day writing workshop we will learn to drop into the creative center in our bodies and befriend the images and words of the writer within. We will learn to employ Centered Writing Practice (a body-centered freewriting technique) to write together using words, pictures, and objects as prompts; meditation; and contemplation. Assignments will be given to practice individually outside, weather permitting.
Creativity is a gift accessed by letting go of restraint, not something reserved for a special few. Take an empty-handed leap into pure inspiration! Come with an open mind and blank notebook and leave with an open heart and pages of inspiration. The only requirement is the willingness to unleash the power of the body’s wisdom.

Awakening the Dreamer-Changing the Dream Symposium
Program Staff: Susan Trout (Coordinator), Ann Benvenuto, Carol Freeman, Kate Jones, Maggie Scobie, Iris Williams
Date and Time: March 20, 1-5:30pm
Cost: $25
Where on Earth are we going? And what can we do about it? These two questions are at the heart of the Symposium. Be prepared to engage in a profound inquiry into a bold vision: to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just human presence on Earth.
If you are ready to explore what this vision means for you, and the opportunity to create an inspiring future, we invite you to attend. We’ll look at our biggest challenges and opportunities and explore these four questions:
- Where are we? – examining the state of environmental, social, and personal wellbeing
- How did we get here? – tracing the root causes that led to our current imbalance
- What’s possible for the future? – discovering new ways of relating with each other and with the Earth and looking at the emerging movement for change
- Where do we go from here? – considering the stand we want to take in the world and our personal and collective impact
This engaging day of exploration and discovery was designed with the collaboration of some of the finest scientific, indigenous, and activist minds in the world. The Symposium explores the current state of our planet from a new perspective and connects participants with a powerful global movement to reclaim our future. Through dynamic group interactions, leading edge information, and multimedia, participants in the Symposium are inspired to reconnect with their deep concern for our world and a powerful feeling of being able to contribute toward a just and sustainable future.
This unique seminar is appropriate for a wide audience. Please come and bring a friend!
